Free tram and bus to Poznan events
Participants in events and congresses held at the Poznań Convention Center can take advantage of free public transport. This is the result of cooperation between the MTP Group and the Poznań Public Transport Authority. Since February this year, you don't have to buy a separate ticket to get to and from the Lech soccer match at Enea Stadion on Bułgarska Street.
“By providing free travel for convention participants or people going to a match, we want to encourage people to choose environmentally friendly means of transport. For the residents of Poznań, this is an incentive to leave their cars at home and use public transport, and for tourists, it will make it much easier to visit our city” - says Jacek Jaśkowiak, the Poznań mayor.
To use free travel, all you need to do is buy (and carry with you during travel) a ticket for a trade fair event. You can also have an ID or an issuer card. This option applies to tickets/IDs/issuer cards purchased (issued) after August 15 this year. Trade fair or congress admission documents entitle you to travel on lines operated by Poznań Public Transportation, according to the date on the ticket or ID.
On the premises of the Poznań International Fair there is a three-level underground car park, where you can also park your car and explore the city using trams and buses during the fair.
Cooperation with Poznan Public Transport is another way to get to the event without having to buy a separate ticket for public transport. In February, after a dozen or so years, this solution was reintroduced for Lech Poznań matches held at Enea Stadion on Bułgarska Street. Travel by public transport on Poznań Public Transportation lines will be based on a ticket or season ticket for the match.
Travelling with a pass or entry ticket to an event is an incentive to use public transport. This way, you can avoid annoying traffic jams, and trams or buses will take you directly to the area around the fair, to a match or concert.
Poznań forts opened to public for Fortress Days
Poznań's forts, shelters and undergrounds are opening up to all those who would like to discover their secrets. The opportunity will be the 12th Poznań Fortress Days. The event will take place on the weekend of 24 and 25 August.
Poznań Fortress Days is a celebration for history and fortification enthusiasts. On the weekend of 24 and 25 August, you will be able to visit over twenty sites. Among them will be 19th-century buildings, including Forts IIa, Va, VI and VII. For the first time, the partially preserved Fort IV will be presented (the structure was blown up in the past), which will be guided by Underground Enthusiasts. You will also be able to meet them during a night tour of the relics of Fort Winiary, the Citadel, as well as in the air raid shelter from World War II on Kościelna Street.
This is not the only object from this period, because visitors will also find anti-aircraft slits in Wilson Park and the personal bunker of the governor of the so-called Warta Land, Arthur Greiser, prepared for him in the basement of the villa from which Radio Poznań currently broadcasts.
The youngest objects are those from the Cold War period. They include the Anti-Atomic Shelter for the Poznań City Authorities in Krzyżowniki, which still arouses a lot of emotions among visitors, as well as the shelter under the residential building on Kasprzaka Street, which debuts in the event program. The oldest fortifications of the capital of Greater Poland, dating back to Mieszko I, will be reminded by the Poznań Gate and the Genius Loci Archaeological Reserve, in front of which you will be able to meet medieval warriors.
The museums at the Citadel - the Armament and the Army "Poznań" museums - also encourage visitors. You can combine a visit with a walk with the Reduta Association. Speaking of walks, an interesting suggestion may be the one entitled "Little known... preserved... but not besieged". Thanks to it, you will be able to see that the Poznań Fortress is not only forts and bunkers, but also other buildings in the city center that have survived to this day.
These are just a few examples of the attractions in the program of this year's Poznań Fortress Days. The full list is available on the website dnitwierdzypoznan.pl .
Admission to many facilities is free, although there is almost always the opportunity to leave a voluntary donation in the collection box.
"The great 'come back'!" One of the most popular neon signs returns
The University of Economics informs about the return of the neon sign on social media. " A great "come back"! The legendary neon sign has returned to the roof of the B building belonging to the University of Economics! The "Poznańskie Słowiki" light decoration is part of the musical history of Poznań" - we read in the entry. "From 1974 to the early nineties, it was a characteristic point of Święty Marcin Street and one of the city's showcases - the seat of the philharmonic and the famous boys' and men's choir" - it was added.
The neon sign will shine from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., decorating the historic building of the former bank. The structure was designed in the 1970s by the Poznań artist Antoni Rzyski. It consists of a staff with a treble clef and animated nightingales.
"One of the most famous neon signs in Poznań delights the eye of passers-by thanks to the support of the city, which allocated over PLN 40,000 for its repair," emphasize representatives of the Poznań city hall.
Time for night running in Poznań!
Night Run Poznań is coming! An evening run on a certified, five-kilometer route on Friday, August 30. Registration lasts until Sunday, August 25.
Short distance, relaxed atmosphere, nighttime and magical finish line illuminated by colorful spotlights - this is a brief description of the Night Run series races, held as part of IRONMAN Poland weekends. This year's races have already taken place in Warsaw and Gdynia, gathering a record number of runners in both cities. On August 30, we will have the last edition of the series this season - Night Run Poznań.
Runners will find a flat and fast 5-kilometer route, with the start and finish line at the Poznań International Fair. Importantly, the route has been certified by the Polish Athletics Association, which will allow them to officially beat their "personal bests" on it. An additional attraction will be the fact that participants will run to the same finish line where two days later participants of the Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań competition will finish.
In the starter pack, each runner will receive a colorful LED wristband, as well as a finisher's medal after crossing the finish line. The start of the Poznań Night Run is scheduled for 10:00 p.m.
Night Run is primarily intended to provide good fun and entertainment, but also to educate. We want to draw attention to the safety of runners after dark. Hence, among other things, the LED wristband in the starting pack of each participant.
Registration for Night Run Poznań is still open, but you have to hurry. Registration will close on Sunday, August 25.
Night Run Poznań is part of the Enea IRONMAN 70.3 Poznań weekend. The triathlon competition will take place on Sunday, September 1, and the day before we can expect a lot of emotions during the Pho3nix IRONKIDS Poznań running competition and the Swim Series Poland by AQUA SPEED swimming competition, which will be held in Lake Kierskie.
The weekend will also see the celebration of the 40th anniversary of Polish triathlon.
