On July 24, 2024, a U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command integrated product team won the award for Data and Analytics Dashboard Design Award at the Army Materiel Command Data and Analytics Summit held at the Tobyhanna Army Depot.
The team comprised of experts from CECOM’s Software Engineering Center, Integrated Logistics Support Center, and G3, the Army’s staff division responsible for operations and planning. The development of the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Equipment Readiness Common Operating Picture earned recognition for the best overall dashboard design.
Over two years, the team demonstrated remarkable perseverance and cutting-edge expertise.
“As with any group, there were differences of opinion regarding design and logic,” said Mr. Jeffrey Marrier, Data Analytics Officer with CECOM SEC. “The team overcame this with exceptional leadership skills from Logistics Management Specialist, Mr. Kishann Smith, CECOM G3, and a shared desire from all members to always make progress. Each member’s individual dedication provided the push the group needed at different times.”
Stakeholder feedback also played a crucial role in the final product as the team engaged in frequent touchpoints with key personnel representing various use cases.
The C5ISR ER COP is a Power Business Intelligence report that imports data from multiple sources to produce key performance indicators, visuals, and tables for C5ISR equipment readiness analysis. The tool is critical because it produces single-source self-service business intelligence for CECOM personnel and external stakeholders in an accessible, repeatable, and convenient fashion that has proven to enhance readiness.
As commanders, defense analysts, program managers, intelligence officers, and logisticians are exposed to newer, hyper-efficient methods of data curation under severe time crunches that require rapid decision-making—the new dashboard exceeds the baseline of modern data methodology because it can be used in any situation, 24/7. It answers the challenge of gathering and collating multiple-source data in times of critical need while improving the availability of C5ISR-M readiness-related data, and reducing the time taken to prepare it.
The win advances AMC’s broader effort in acquiring insights to CECOM’s BI capabilities. Looking ahead, ER COP is a prime example of CECOM’s ability to produce innovative solutions to readiness complexities.
