USAG-Detroit Arsenal Competes for the Supply Excellence Award

DETROIT ARSENAL, Mich. - The US Army Garrison-Detroit Arsenal is proud to be selected as one of only six finalists in the entire U.S. Army to compete in the FY2010 Supply Excellence Award (SEA) competition in category III(B) TDA organization.

When the Northeast RegionAca,!a,,cs Organizational Inspection Program travelled to Michigan to routinely examine Garrison operations, they observed that the supply processes within the USAG-Detroit Arsenal Directorate of Logistics (DOL) were superior in quality and customer serviceAca,!"so much so, that the team encouraged the Garrison apply for the SEA.

The SEA, as directed by the Chief of Staff, Army, has been recognizing installations around the world for improved supply system operations. As outlined on the ArmyAca,!a,,cs Quartermaster website, the objectives of the SAE are to: Aca,!A"enhance logistical readiness of all Army units; enforce the Command Supply Discipline Program (CSDP); encourage the use of available resources; and provide a structure for recognition of group and individual initiatives.

Armed with a massive three-ring binder, Clinton Watson, Chief of Supply and Services, bravely elected to head up the process of assembling the necessary information in order to compete for the award. It wasnAca,!a,,ct long before the USAG-Detroit Arsenal received noticed that it was, in fact, selected as a contender.

The DOL Supply and Services division oversees asset management of all durable property and hand-receipt items, such as computers and furniture, for the entire Detroit Arsenal population.

Watson recently met with evaluation panel members, CW5 Stephen Ikeda, Chief of the Supply Excellence Award team and CW4 Will Rayam, and was afforded the opportunity to brag about the proven processes of the DOL.
