All 353 of Redstone’s homes were inspected last week as part of the Armywide housing inspections.
Congress ordered that 100% of all family housing on Army installations would be inspected by an independent, third-party contractor retained by the Department of Army. Inspectors from RER Solutions visited Redstone from July 29 to Aug. 2.
“This is an Army mandated inspection of the homes,” Brittany Morrison, the Redstone community director for Hunt Military Communities, said. “All of the homes have to be checked for life, health and safety issues.
“I think that our team does a great job of staying on top of any maintenance concerns. We are in the middle of PCS (permanent change of station) season. Please have patience with our maintenance team as we complete this inspection.”
Based on inspection results, residents submitted work orders to have repairs done by the Hunt maintenance team.
“Our work order count has greatly increased,” Morrison said Aug. 1.

“Our work order count has significantly increased this week with inspections on top of PCS season.”
Redstone housing was rated No. 1 Armywide from the 2023 Tenant Satisfaction and Opinion Survey of Tenants living in privatized family and unaccompanied on-post housing. “We’re still waiting on our most recent survey (for 2024),” Morrison said.
Sheldon “Mitch” Mitchell was among three inspectors from RER Solutions who traveled to Redstone on July 29 and departed Aug. 2. They did inspections July 30-Aug. 1. “This is my third installation,” said Mitchell, who previously visited Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. He inspects 5-6 homes a day and would see 15 homes in three days at Redstone. Large installations typically take two weeks to complete, he said.
Asked his perception of Redstone’s homes, he said, they are “well-maintained properties compared to other installations.”
Mitchell, who resides in northern Florida, is a retired sergeant first class who served 28 years in the Army, the first eight in the Reserve and then 20 on active duty.
