FORT NOVOSEL, Ala. – 3 Soldiers and 2 DA Civilians with a combined 150 years of service, retired at the Fort Novosel Quarterly Retirement Ceremony Aug. 2 in the U.S. Army Aviation Museum.

Col. Dennis Hill, 110th Army Aviation Brigade commander, officiated and spoke at the ceremony, assisted by Command Sgt. Maj. Matthew Thomas.

The following are short write-ups on each retiree.

Chief Warrant Officer Three Francisco Guzman

Chief Warrant Officer Three Francisco Guzman entered military service in 1999 as an aircraft mechanic. In 2012 he was selected to attend army warrant officer flight training. During his 25 years of military service, he has served in various locations, including, NAS Oceana, Virginia Beach, Virginia; Navy Recruiting command Miami, Florida; NAS Jacksonville, Florida; Fort Novosel, Alabama; Fort Bliss, Texas; and overseas locations in Japan, Germany, and South Korea. In addition, he served multiple combat tours in support of operations Iraqi and enduring freedom. Guzman has served as a f/a 18 hornet mechanic, trouble shooter, test cell supervisor, oil lab supervisor, TAC officer for the warrant officer career college, UH-60 pilot in command and instructor pilot.

Chief Warrant Officer Three Guzman stated that the highlight of his career was giving back to the warrant officer corps as a trainer, advisor and counselor here at Fort Novosel.

He and his spouse Beatriz Guzman have three children. Upon retirement they plan to reside in Enterprise, Alabama.

 Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Hartman

Chief Warrant Officer Three Hartman entered military service in 2002 in the United States Air Force as an aircraft electrical and environmental systems craftsman. In 2013 he was selected to attend army warrant officer flight training. During his 21 years of military service, he has served in various locations, including, Grand Forks Air Force base, North Dakota; Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska; Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada; Fort Bliss, Texas, Fort Novosel, Alabama, and overseas in South Korea. In addition, he served multiple combat tours in support of operations Iraqi and enduring freedom. Hartman has served as an F-16 and KC-135 electrician, F-16 lead technical advisor, United States Air Force Thunderbird demonstration team member, flight operations director, AH-64 pilot in command, AH-64 maintenance test pilot, quality control officer and aviation leadership exercise course manager.

Chief Warrant Officer Three Andrew Hartman stated the highlight of his career was representing the United States military stateside as well as overseas while assigned as a member of the United States air force air demonstration squadron, “The Thunderbirds.”

He and his spouse Raine Hartman have four children. Upon retirement they plan to reside in St. Louis, Missouri.

First Sergeant James Stosh

First Sergeant Stosh entered military service in 2004 as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and later re-classified as a recruiter. During his 20 years of military service, he served in numerous locations including Fort Cavazos, Texas; Fort Liberty, North Carolina; Mobile, Alabama; Sierra Vista, Arizona; Gallup, New Mexico; Conroe, Texas and ultimately, a subsequent tenure in mobile, Alabama. He has also served two combat tours in support of operation Iraqi freedom with the 4th infantry division and the 18th airborne corps. Stosh holds a bachelor’s degree in applied management from Grand Canyon University and is currently working towards a master’s degree in educational leadership at Liberty University.

First Sergeant Stosh stated the highlight of his career was achieving success in various assignments while simultaneously raising his two sons and maintaining a supportive marriage until the conclusion of his military service.

He and his spouse Lindsay have two children. Upon retirement they plan to reside in Daphne, Alabama.

Mr. John E. Martin

 Mr. Martin entered government service as a Department of the Army Civilian in 2004 following 27 years as an active-duty Chief Warrant Officer. Mr. Martin served as one of Fort Novosel's initial program management office representatives supporting CH-47D Chinooks. He moved the aviation center logistic command, as the lead for unit level logistics system – aviation aircraft logbooks. He concluded his civilian career as the Knox Army Heliport contracting officer representative providing contract surveillance and maintenance support to the center's CH-47F program.

Mr. Martin stated the highlight of his career was fielding the Army’s new CH-47F Chinook, replacing the legacy delta models, ushering in the digital medium lift helicopter to the Fort Novosel flight training programs and working with exceptional military, civilian and contractor personnel.

He and his spouse Teresa have five children and one granddaughter. Upon retirement, they plan to reside outside Elba, Alabama.

 Mrs. Jane Clements

Mrs. Jane Clements entered federal civilian service in 1988. During her 36 years of federal civilian service. Her initial position was as a medical records clerk at Lyster Army Hospital, housing representative clerk in Germany, Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP) at Fort Stewart, Georgia. Clements was hired as an administrative assistant for Fort Novosel’s ASAP in 2011 and was later promoted to drug testing technician followed by drug testing coordinator.

Mrs. Clements stated the highlight of her career was receiving the TRADOC guardian award and receiving a 4-star coin and personal note from Gen. Paul Funk in recognition of her extreme diligence and dedication to duty while the drug testing program was understaffed.

She and her spouse Victor have one child. Upon retirement they plan to reside in Daleville, Alabama.
