REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala - The Army Contracting Command announced the winners of its fiscal year 2023 ACC Annual Awards, and the recipients are as geographically disbursed as the command is. With individuals and teams winning awards throughout the country and the globe, more than 65 individuals, centers, units, and teams were recognized for their efforts throughout the year.
Individual awardees like Blake Isakson from the ACC-New Jersey center attributed his success to his team. Isakson was named the Outstanding Contracting Specialist (for Major Weapon Systems) of the year but wanted to recognize his teammates for their efforts and support.
“I’m incredibly honored to have received this award. I could not have achieved this, let alone be nominated from my office, without the great team around me. This is not just an individual award. This is an award for you all, as it even more so reflects the leadership you all exude and all your hard work. This is not an individual job; it takes a great team to succeed,” he said.
“Without my team, the amazing strides we made in far exceeding our small business goals and supporting small businesses through our contracting actions would not have been achievable,” said Stephen Heath of the U.S. Army Mission and Installation Contracting Command-Fort Campbell and the winner of the Contract Professional in Support of Small Business Programs Award.
“Collaboration and teamwork are not only vital to the small business execution and Army contracting overall- they are also the keys to success that led to our office in not only meeting but exceeding our small business goals as well as being able to meet our mission year after year supporting the Fort Campbell community.”
Others also stressed the importance of partnerships with their mission partners and other government agencies and the collaboration illustrated in the joint efforts.
“Being selected for the Outstanding Contingency Contracting Officer was a complete surprise to me and I do appreciate it,” said Michael Coon, from the ACC-Rock Island center. “In all honesty, despite it being an individual award, it really belongs to the entire EUCOM team, top to bottom, during these intense times in Europe. I am so very fortunate to have the group of specialists operating under me, our internal support teams, my day-to-day colleagues at Army Sustainment Command, 405th AFSB, and 409th CSB, and of course, the tremendous leaders here at ACC-RI that have allowed me to take the reins on this beast of a mission set. Without everyone contributing, we would not have had the success we’ve had in providing contingency support to the warfighter.”
