WHEELER ARMY AIRFIELD, HAWAII - The 413th Contracting Support Brigade (CSB) recently deployed its brigade Tactical Command Post (TAC) along with contracting assets to support Vigilant Shield 24 (VS 24) June 3-20. This deployment, built on the successful efforts executed during Talisman Sabre 23 (TS 23) in Australia, significantly enhanced the brigade's operational capabilities and reinforced its ongoing integration with the 8th Theater Sustainment Command (TSC).
The 413th CSB also successfully integrated Army 51Charlies, contracting officers, into the 36th Contracting Squadron, a significant step towards joint operations in the Pacific. This integration allowed Army personnel to access the Air Force's contracting writing system, fostering a unified contracting approach that enhanced interoperability and ensured mission requirements were efficiently met in support of 6,000 service members.
"Joint contracting operations in Guam are vital for setting the theater, given its strategic location in the Indo-Pacific, which makes it a key asset for power projection and sustainment operations," said Col. Jason Miles, commander, 413th CSB.
This rehearsal not only supported the immediate mission but also lays a strong foundation for future operations, ensuring that joint contracting forces remain agile, responsive, and capable in the Indo-Pacific theater. It's a testament to the Army's and Air Force's commitment to building increased capability on Guam to support warfighting efforts.
The 413th CSB's deployment and integration efforts demonstrate the brigade's operational/strategic importance in support of United States Army Pacific (USARPAC). As the Army continues to build capability on Guam, the 413th CSB will remain a key player in ensuring the success of joint contracting operations.
