BIZE, Albania- The maneuver company advisor team (MCAT) 4320 with Force Package (FP) 24-2E, 3rd Squadron, 4th Security Force Assistance Brigade (SFAB) successfully integrated with the Albanian Land Forces and Light Infantry Battalion Group, during the three-stage exercise Joint Effort-24, held from June 24-28, demonstrating NATO interoperability and strengthening the U.S.-Albania alliance. This achievement was recognized by Maj. Gen. Arben Kingji, the Chief of Defense of the Albania Armed Forces, after the exercise.
Throughout Joint Effort-24, MCAT 4320 Advisors seamlessly integrated across the Albanian enterprise, from the Albanian Land Forces to tactical units, in alignment with our Advising concept. Our staff advisement extended to both the Land Forces and battalion levels, with advisors strategically placed at key tactical units in fires, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and logistics to ensure mission success.
The primary focus was on testing integration at the staff level, utilizing NATO interoperable communications systems. This allowed the Advisors to validate their capability to provide deconfliction, common awareness, and coordination with a multinational brigade headquarters, per Albanian NATO defense plans.
In addition to facilitating the training of the Albanians, Advisors tested their ability to conduct missions in crisis scenarios, enhancing the capability of NATO to link organizations more effectively. This exercise has proven invaluable in preparing Albania for future training activities, such as the Defender Europe exercise in 2025 and the Light Infantry Battalion Group certification exercise in 2026.
The professionalism and dedication exhibited by the 4th SFAB Advisors and their Albanian partners have not only strengthened operational capabilities but also reinforced a commitment to the highest standards of NATO interoperability and military excellence.
