Two road paving projects are planned on Redstone, one on the north end of the installation and another off Redstone Road.

Goss Road will be paved between the Links golf course to Gate 8, starting toward the end of September, Kris Leatherman, the construction branch chief in the Directorate of Public Works’ Engineering Division, said.

“Some of the side streets going into the housing area will have some effects,” he said Friday at the Redstone Town Hall. “We just ask that everyone pay attention when you’re driving through that area.”

West Line Road will be paved, starting in early September, he said.

“We hope to have those (paving projects) finished by Thanksgiving,” Leatherman said.

Leatherman also gave an update on the activity center at Patton and Gray roads that will include two pickleball courts and one basketball court, a pavilion and additional parking.

The project, now under construction, is expected to be completed by mid-November, he said.

Garrison Commander Col. Brian Cozine noted that the new recreational area is among several Resilient Energy Funding for Readiness and Modernization projects on post.

Under the REFoRM program, the Army recognizes validated energy cost savings based on reduced energy consumption, then shares that savings 50-50 with the installations that generated those savings.
