Colonel Eric J. Van Den Bosch was promoted to the rank of brigadier general on July 12, 2024, in Fort Meade, Maryland. The promotion ceremony, which took place at the Defense Information School, was hosted by Major General Jeth Rey, Director of Network Command, Control, Communications, and Computer (C4) Services Integration, Deputy Chief of Staff, G-6.

BG Van Den Bosch graduated from the Ohio State University in 1995 and has more than 29 years of distinguished service in the United States Army. He now serves as the Commanding General, 7th Signal Command (Theater), an organization of more than 5,000 Soldiers and Civilians who operate and secure the Army’s digital, voice, and satellite infrastructure on installations across the continental United States and beyond. The 7th Signal Command also executes IT modernization projects and initiatives in its area of operations. BG Van Den Bosch is dual-hatted as Deputy Commanding General, Network Enterprise Technology Command.

In his remarks, MG Rey praised BG Van Den Bosch’s professionalism and the depth of his knowledge in the field of information technology. “He puts in the time to be that consummate professional and knowing his craft and understanding it. That’s just who he is,” said MG Rey. “You’re learning something new every moment you’re around him.”

BG Van Den Bosch’s wife and children attended the ceremony, as well as extended family, friends, and former colleagues. BG Van Den Bosch thanked his family during his speech for the love and support they have provided throughout his Army career.

“My drive to come to work every day is to give an unfair advantage to our Soldiers in harm’s way against our adversaries,” he said. “And my drive to go home every day is to be with my family, who gives me the support I need to do this job that I am called to do, that I am blessed to do.”

BG Van Den Bosch most recently served as Chief of Staff for the Network Cross-Functional Team at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, where he helped enable the Army’s Integrated Tactial Network Modernization signature efforts. Other assignments include Executive Officer for the Commanding General of the Communications-Electronics Command; Chief Information Officer/G-6 for the XVIII Airborne Corps; and Commander of the Erbil Air Base and Director of CJTF OIR’s Kurdistan Coordination Center.

As his first act as a general officer, following the promotion ceremony BG Van Den Bosch administered the oath of enlistment to 11 Soldiers within 7th Signal Command (Theater) who are re-enlisting for another term of service.
