PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. - On June 28, Maj. Gen. John T. Reim, Commanding General of Picatinny Arsenal and Joint Program Executive Officer for Armaments and Ammunition, hosted the retirement ceremony for Chaplain (Lt. Col.) Simon Chang, Picatinny Arsenal’s beloved garrison chaplain.

Chang, a native of South Korea, was born 11 years after the Korean Armistice was signed. Raised by a father who served in the Republic of Korea Army for 8 years, Chang was deeply influenced by stories of American service members' valor. These stories, combined with his pride in becoming a U.S. citizen, inspired him to commission in the Army at the age of 38.

During his time at Picatinny, Chaplain Chang became a cornerstone of the community. He faithfully attended every change of command, every change of charter, and every promotion ceremony, offering support and guidance. His Religious Support Office provided a multitude of services to all Picatinny Arsenal employees, embracing individuals of all faiths with open arms and compassion.

Congratulations, Chaplain Chang, on your well-deserved retirement and thank you for your service!
