Grand Football Tournament "Bolesławiec Cup" Concludes
BOLESŁAWIEC, Poland (June 24) — The third edition of the "Bolesławiec Cup" Grand Football Tournament took place on June 22 and 23. Over two days, participants, spectators, and fans in Bolesławiec and Bolesławiecki County enjoyed 296 matches, featuring over 700 players and 1,248 goals scored, totaling 3,800 minutes of playtime.
The tournament, organized by Football Academy Bolesławiec, also included attractions such as inflatables, accuracy competitions, football darts, penalty shootouts, tug-of-war, barbecue sausages, an animation town, autograph sessions, and more. Parents participated in a penalty shootout contest and tug-of-war.
Intercultural Folk Festival Held in Bolesławiec
BOLESŁAWIEC, Poland (June 24) — Last Saturday, the Intercultural Folk Festival took place in the parking area at the Bolesławiec County building, celebrating culture and tradition. County Mayor Tomasz Gabrysiak welcomed all participants and guests.
Local folklore ensembles performed traditional dances and songs, delighting the audience. Guests from Bautzen shared their culture and folklore, fostering mutual understanding and cultural integration. Supported by the EU, the festival provided a platform for exchanging experiences and celebrating multiculturalism.
Retro-Style Festival in Żagań This Weekend
ŻAGAŃ, Poland (June 29) — Lovers of culture, fashion, and automobiles from the 20th century will gather near Żagań Palace on Saturday, June 29, for the Festival of History. Starting at 1 p.m., the event will feature costumes from the era presented by the Retro Lubuskie group and historic cars and motorcycles from the 1920s to the 1960s.
The event will be divided into zones for automotive displays, fashion, sales, exhibitions, museums, relaxation, and gastronomy. Performances and concerts will begin at 3 p.m., culminating in a retro dance. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and picnic baskets and wear period costumes.
Bridge Renovations in Żagań Near Completion
ŻAGAŃ, Poland (June 24) — The reconstruction of four bridges in Żagań County is nearing completion, promising relief for drivers who face long traffic jams during rush hour. The project includes two bridges in Żagań and bridges in Rudawica and Trzebów.
The bridge in Trzebów is unique, using a hybrid technology considered the only one of its kind in the world. "This is the first bridge using this technology in Poland and globally," said Professor Jan Biliszczuk of the Wrocław University of Technology. The innovative design combines steel and concrete, providing a durable and efficient structure.
Głębokie Lake Opens for Tourist Season
MIĘDZYRZECZ, Poland (June 24) — Głębokie Lake near Międzyrzecz will host the grand opening of the tourist season this Saturday, offering numerous attractions for residents and visitors. The event will feature an inflatable slide, sports zone, fire truck display, popcorn, cotton candy, lemonade, tennis, and quad rides. Promotional tents from the Międzyrzecz commune and event partners will also be present.
The main beach will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Głębokie Lake is a popular relaxation spot but faces issues with water levels. The Międzyrzecz commune plans to revitalize the area with floating piers, toilets, changing rooms, and more.
