PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. -- Ten new Department of the Army civilians received the Joint Program Executive Office Armaments and Ammunition / Team Picatinny Pin during the Joint Program Executive Office Armaments and Ammunition's (JPEO A&A) command and staff meeting at Picatinny Arsenal on Monday, June 24.

The pin, which features the JPEO A&A logo encompassed within the arsenal's iconic cannon gates, is presented to new hires as a symbol of their integration into the organization and Picatinny community. This ceremony marks the beginning of their commitment to developing, procuring, and fielding lethal armaments and ammunition, providing Joint Warfighters and International Partners with overmatch capabilities.

Dr. Theresa A. Smith, the Deputy Joint Program Executive Officer for Armaments and Ammunition, presided over the pinning and highlighted the importance of the new employees' roles in advancing the Army's capabilities and rebuilding the Arsenal of Democracy.

"Each of you brings unique skills and expertise that are vital to our mission here at Armaments and Ammunition," Smith said. "This pin is more than just a token; it represents your dedication to our national defense and the collaborative spirit of the Arsenal’s community."

The new employees come from diverse professional backgrounds, including engineering, logistics, and plans and operations. They will be contributing to various projects aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of their respective products within the Armaments and Ammunition portfolio.

As the Department of Defense's Joint Center of Excellence for Guns and Ammunition, Picatinny Arsenal is home to 90 percent of the Army's lethality and is a key site for the Army's research, development, and engineering efforts.

One of the new hires, Joseph Breiner, a recently retired veteran who has seen combat deployments and now works as a program support specialist under the G 3/5/7 directorate, expressed his gratitude.

"I'm happy to support the organization that supported me when I was a Soldier," Breiner said. "It's an honor to be part of a team that plays such a crucial role in our nation's defense."

"While this is the inaugural pinning ceremony for JPEO A&A," Smith added. "My intent is to incorporate this into our battle rhythm and build a strong sense of camaraderie and morale among our personnel, ensuring our new hires feel valued and integral to our success."
