Poznań students win international competitions
The team of students of the Poznań University of Technology won the Alpha Trains European Railway Challenge 2024. Interestingly, the vehicle they build is eco-friendly, because it uses solar panels as an energy source. The challenge took place in the German Bad Schussenried. The event was attended by students who competed, testing their own hand-built locomotives on the track with a spacing of 10 1/4 inches.
In this year’s edition, the PUTrain team, representing the Poznań University of Technology Scientific Circle of Public Transport Engineers, triumphed again, winning first place in the general classification and the Grand Champion title. In addition, students took first places in the following categories: Reliability, Autostop System, Design, Comfort Driving, Energy Recussionation.
“This spectacular victory proves that Polish students are at the forefront of European engineering,” informs Poznań University of Technology. “These professions are a true test of skills and innovation, during which key traction parameters are assessed, such as vibrational level, acceleration, efficiency of energy recovery systems during braking and precision of automatic stopping of the locomotive in a designated place."
In addition, the teams also had to demonstrate service speed, reliability and documentary and business skills.

World Cup in rowing - General rehearsal ahead of the Olympic Games From 14 to 16 June, the Malta Regatta Track will hold the World Cup in rower. This will be a decisive test of form before the Olympic Games in Paris.
Recently, the competition in canoeing took place over Poznań Malta, and in mid-June there will be a competition for the World Cup. This competition will take place for the tenth time, which shows that the track over Malta is appreciated internationally - says Jędrzej Solarski, Deputy Mayor of Poznań.
This year’s competition will coincide with several jubilees. 20 years ago, in 2004, the first World Cup competition in rowing took place in the capital of the Wielkopolska region. In addition, it is just 100 years of the existence of the Wielkopolska Association of Associations and the Poznań Committee of the Associations of Voss and the Poznań Committee of the Associations, whose task was to organize regattas for local clubs.
The competition will take place a month before the Olympic Games in Paris, which further emphasizes the importance of this event in the capital of Wielkopolska. The June World Cup in Poznań will be the last test for the players before the fight for Olympic medals.
863 participants from 40 countries will take part in the Poznań edition of the World Cup. The races will include 14 Olympic competitions and selected non-Olympic competitions.
- It's going to be a "small Olympics." At least 50 percent of the players who go to Paris will stand at the start in Poznań - emphasizes Aleksander Daniel, executive director of the World Cup in rower.
Especially in connection with the World Cup on 14 June, the first concert from the series “NaFalach”. Natalia Przybysz and Igo will perform.
During the competition, you will also be able to see - at a specially prepared exhibition on this occasion - objects collected, among others, by Wielkopolska rowing clubs, such as commemorative medals or club jerseys.

The great washing of City Stadium has begun
Already in May, Poznań Sports and Recreation Centers explained that the external and partly internal merged of the stadium membranes will be washed. - During cleaning, the product recommended by the manufacturer of the material from which the sheath was made will be used. The operation, which can take up to two months, will be carried out by people with the right to work at heights - said Filip Borowiak.
