The 11-month-old child of a Henderson Hall Marine was diagnosed with the H1N1 virus Friday, Sept. 18. The Marine is not exhibiting flu like symptoms at this time. However, flu like symptoms may take up to seven days to appear after close contact with infected persons, according to Fort Myer Safety personnel.
Additionally, Friday, Sept. 18, a close relative of an Old Guard Sentinel Soldier was also diagnosed with the H1N1 virus. The Soldier is also not exhibiting flu like symptoms.
If you are currently assigned to the Pentagon, Arlington Annex, Fort Myer or Fort McNair, please follow these guidelines pertaining to H1N1. Active Duty service members who are experiencing flu like symptoms must report to their chain of command and report to their assigned Military Treatment Facility for diagnosis and treatment before being absent from duty. Service Members enrolled to either the DiLorenzo TRICARE Health Clinic (DTHC) or the Andrew Rader USA Health Clinic may report to sick call at their respective enrollment site between 7 and 8 a.m. Monday-Friday for evaluation.
DoD Civilian Employees and contract employees who are experiencing flu like symptoms are encouraged to obtain medical care from their civilian healthcare providers. If you are confirmed positive with H1N1 influenza, please notify your supervisor and any one you had close contact with at home and work. Supervisors of DoD Civilian Employees in the Pentagon, Fort McNair, and the Arlington Annex please report all confirmed positive H1N1 cases to the DTHC at DTHC_H1N1@amedd.army.mil Supervisors of DoD Civilian Employees on Fort Myer should report all confirmed positive H1N1 cases to the Fort Myer Community Health Nurse at 703-696-3662.
All DoD Civilians and Service Members must report to their chain of command when out with an illness.
