Ft. Detrick Volksmarch for the Prevention of Suicide

Over 350 Soldiers, family members and Army Civilians gathered at Nallin Pond on Ft. Detrick, Md., Sept. 3 for a two-mile Volksmarch for the Prevention of Suicide. Major Gen. James K. Gilman, Commander, Medical Research and Material Command spoke to the crowd before the volksmarch, and highlighted the need for a holistic approach to combat rising suicide rates in the Army. The march had fourour checkpoints along the route where participants could find resources covering Behavioral Health, Physical Health, Spritual Fitness and Environmental Health.
