WHEELER ARMY AIRFIELD, Hawai'i – Wheeler Army Airfield residents, Island Palm Communities (IPC) Tina Simpson-Rosa Customer Experience Manager, Wheeler Community Manager Jera Gabrillo, and Director of Emergency Services Col. Charles Green, U.S. Army Garrison Hawai'i, gathered at the Wheeler Army Community Center on a Tuesday, May 21 evening to discuss reinstating the Neighborhood Watch Program. This meeting was crucial for the community's efforts to enhance security and reduce crime.

The meeting's purpose was to discuss reinstating the Neighborhood Watch Program, address current crime levels, and ensure a safer environment for everyone. Leadership emphasized the need for community involvement, recognizing that the program's success hinged on active participation from the residents and military police.

The strong partnership between our community and IPC is the foundation of our Neighborhood Watch Program. U.S. Army Garrison Hawai'i Directorate of Emergency Services, Deputy Director Jim Tyler expressed his gratitude, saying, "IPC has been absolutely fantastic providing invaluable support. They are rapidly becoming a foundational element for our Neighborhood Watch Program for all U.S. Army installations in Hawai'i."

Despite initial challenges, the community's determination to establish the Neighborhood Watch Program is unwavering. Leadership is exploring the potential impact of utilizing a central social media platform to spread awareness, provide tips, and garner interest. We envision a ripple effect as individuals share information and encourage others to join the cause.

The Wheeler Army Community Center meeting marked a pivotal moment in the community's journey toward reinstating the Neighborhood Watch Program. It showcased the power of collective effort and determination in creating a safer and more united neighborhood. With the commitment and support of the residents and key partners, the vision of a secure and thriving community is well on its way to becoming a reality.
