Born graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1996 and commissioned into the infantry. Born recently served as the Brigade Commander of the 4th Security Forces Assistance Brigade (SFAB) at Fort Carson, Colorado from 2021 until 2023. In this role, he was tasked with training and advising partner nation security forces, a mission he approached with strategic acumen and unwavering humility. Retired Army General Vincent K. Brooks hosted the ceremony and spoke on behalf of Brig. Gen. Born’s career journey thus far. “It’s not a surprise that he has been singled out among all the other officers to advance across the line of the most selective promotions an officer can experience”, said Gen. Brooks.

He has held roles from platoon leader to now deputy commander. Currently he serves as the 1st Cavalry Division Headquarters Deputy Commander in the First Cavalry Division. With the division currently deployed to Europe in support of Operation Assure Deter and Reinforce. His role as Deputy Commander of Support for 1st Cavalry Division is to oversee real-world missions and operations and coordinating with other departments along with managing the division’s resources.

Born thanked his wife Cattleya and their children during his speech for the continued love and support they provided him throughout his Army career. “My wife and children, I’m so proud of you the resilience and the ability to make our home wherever the Army sends us is inspiring as I cherish your love and support watching you grow and mature is one of the best parts of my life,” said Brig. Gen. Born.
