REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. (April 25, 2024) – For the first time since 2019, the U.S. Army Redstone Test Center opened the gates to families for Bring Your Child to Work Day. Close to 250 RTC teammates and their children spent half a day touring RTC test areas.

The day began with a welcome ceremony held at the Redstone Arsenal Community Activity Center hosted by RTC Directors and featuring a special guest, former RTC engineer Destin Sandlin, now a YouTube sensation with the Smarter Every Day channel.

The kids then boarded charter buses and had the chance to view static displays of a CH-47 Chinook and UH-60 Blackhawk at the Aviation Flight Test Directorate; view a firing of a Tube-Launched, optically-tracked, wireless-guided (TOW) missile at the Missiles and Sensors Test Directorate’s Test Area 1; and finish the morning at the Environmental and Component Test Directorate’s Electromagnetic Test Division to see a lightning strike demonstration.

“We are fortunate to have a talented workforce at RTC and we were excited to bring back this event so these kids can see what their parents do day in and day out in support of the U.S. Army," said Kenny Chenoweth, the Technical Director/Deputy Commander of RTC.

The U.S. Army Redstone Test Center is located on Redstone Arsenal and is a subordinate command of the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command. RTC provides technical expertise, state-of-the-art facilities, and capabilities to plan, conduct, analyze, and report the results of tests on missile and aviation systems, sensors, subsystems and components.
