Fort Knox, KY — Mr. Greg Bull, the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Southeast District Superintendent, is delighted to announce Kimberly Dunn as the new Community Superintendent for Fort Knox. Ms. Dunn will transition from her current role as the Principal of Dexter Elementary School in Fort Moore, on June 2, 2024.

Ms. Dunn has an extensive background in education, most recently highlighted by her selection as the 2024 DoDEA Principal of the Year. She has proven her leadership skills through her tenure at Dexter ES, where she enhanced parental involvement and student achievement and cultivated a strong community culture.

“Kimberly Dunn is an experienced educational leader that understands the needs of our students and families,” said Bull. “Her life journey as a military child, teacher, and military spouse makes Kimberly just the right person to ascend to the community superintendent position at Fort Knox.”

Prior to her Principal role in Georgia, Ms. Dunn served in the Europe South District, contributing significantly to the development and implementation of educational programs that support military-connected students. Her career spans roles from teacher to instructional support specialist, touching lives at various levels from elementary through high school.

Ms. Dunn is finalizing her doctoral dissertation in Organizational Leadership, emphasizing Effective Schools. Her academic background and real-world experience equip her to lead Fort Knox schools toward a future where every student thrives.

As a military child, the spouse of a retired Sergeant First Class and a mother of five, Ms. Dunn's personal experience with military life deeply informs her professional approach, enabling her to connect with military families on a profound level.

Ms. Dunn expressed her eagerness about her new position: "I am thrilled to join the Fort Knox community and look forward to collaborating with the families and staff to continue building a supportive and effective learning environment for all our students."
