Convoy Alert on Hawaii Island

PŌHAKULOA TRAINING AREA, HILO, Hawaii (May 1, 2024) — The following is a schedule of upcoming military vehicle convoys from Kawaihae Harbor to Pohakuloa Training Area. Be advised of times and locations in order to plan your local travel.

  • 4 May 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.           Kawaihae to Pohakuloa Training Area (4 separate convoys)
  • 5 May 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.           Kawaihae to Pohakuloa Training Area (4 separate convoys)
  • 6 May 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.           Kawaihae to Pohakuloa Training Area (4 separate convoys)
  • 7 May  8 a.m. – 3 p.m.          Kawaihae to Pohakuloa Training Area (4 separate convoys)

Convoy leaders will continually assess conditions and conduct pull-over procedures on permissible straight-aways sections of the road to allow local residents the ability to bypass the convoy and reduce backed up traffic.

The military appreciates the understanding and continued support of the Hawaii Island community. This training is critical to ensure military units and service members are ready to accomplish their mission and return home safely.
