PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. - On Bring Your Child to Work Day, April 25, 206 7-12-year-old children, and 98 teens age 13-17, toured Picatinny Arsenal to learn about tanks, howitzers, ammunition loading vehicles, remotely operated weapons and small arms and other systems from Picatinny armament engineers.

Both age groups toured a prototype manufacturing facility where they learned how a limitless number of designs can be fashioned from a host of different materials. The children also toured a fire station where they learned about how equipment and training help firefighters do their perilous work.

They toured a lab focused on 3D printing and advanced materials manufacturing, and they toured a Navy lab focused on medium minor caliber weapons.

The teens also stopped to learn about job opportunities related to emergency management and sustainment support for Picatinny Arsenal.

Those students not able to go on the tour were able to touch multiple military vehicles, Explosive Ordnance Disposal robots, and emergency vehicles.

All participants had an opportunity to learn about Earth Day and the different affects/effects pollution has on their environment and how they can make changes to lessen their carbon footprint.
