Wings for Life World Run 2024: Join the Global Race from Poznan or Anywhere
This Sunday, May 5th, at 1:00 p.m. local time, Poznan will host the 11th edition of the Wings for Life World Run. Unlike traditional races, there's no fixed finish line. Instead, participants are pursued by a virtual Chasing Car, led by Adam Małysz.
While the event has been synonymous with Poznan, this year sees a nationwide expansion, thanks to grassroots efforts and the Wings for Life World Run App. Alongside Poznan, cities like Krakow, Warsaw, and Gdańsk, among others, are now part of the 24 locations hosting the run. Participants using the app will receive official t-shirts, with registration fees supporting spinal cord research.
"We're proud of the event's growth in Poland," says Paweł Januszewski, the race's sports director. "The app allows us to make strides in spinal cord research while providing an exceptional experience akin to the Flag Run."
To join via the app, visit the Wings for Life World Run website and register for the App Run. Registration includes an official Adidas t-shirt and costs 80 PLN (approximately $20), with proceeds dedicated to spinal cord research.

Major Investment Planned Near Poznań: State-of-the-Art Training Facility for Abrams and K2 Tank Crews
A groundbreaking investment is on the horizon near Poznań, with plans underway to establish a state-of-the-art training ground at the Biedrusko (BTA) facility. This ambitious project, set to unfold over the next 3-5 years, entails an investment of several hundred million.
The Biedrusko training area, under the auspices of the Center for Land Forces Training in Poznań, will undergo a remarkable transformation into a modern complex tailored for tank training. It is poised to become the sole training hub in Poland dedicated to honing the skills of Abrams and K2 tank crews.
The envisioned facility will feature cutting-edge simulators to simulate tank operations, ensuring comprehensive training for personnel. Additionally, new barracks, maintenance garages, and repair teams will be constructed, all specifically designed to accommodate the unique requirements of American and Korean tanks.
This year marks a pivotal moment as the tender for the construction of tent halls, earmarked for Abrams tanks destined for Poland, is set to be finalized. The culmination of this ambitious endeavor is projected for 2025.
"The forthcoming garage will be a formidable structure, capable of housing several dozen American tanks. Spanning approximately 14,000 square meters, its estimated value exceeds PLN 150 million," revealed officials involved in the project.
As plans unfold for this groundbreaking facility, anticipation builds for the enhanced training opportunities it will afford, ensuring the readiness and capabilities of tank crews for years to come.
