Road and City Rail Construction Scheduled from April 23rd to May 17th
Residents and commuters are advised of upcoming construction activities that will impact transportation in the city center starting April 23rd. The surface construction along Aleje Niepodległości, a major thoroughfare, will commence, with the project expected to span approximately one month and be executed in phases. Consequently, adjustments will be made to bus routes including numbers 171, 212, 215, and 222.
Furthermore, beginning this Saturday, April 27th, renovation work will commence on the tramway track along Hetmańska Street. Anticipated to last for three weeks, the project will also involve alterations to pedestrian crossings at tram stops, necessitating changes to public transportation organization. From April 27th to May 17th, tram routes 1, 7, and 11 will operate along modified paths. To mitigate inconvenience, tram line 97 and bus line T1 will be introduced.
The T1 bus route will traverse from Głogowska/Hetmańska along Głogowska, Winklera, Kasprzaka, Hetmańska to Rolna, and then loop back to Głogowska/Hetmańska junction. This initiative aims to provide alternative transportation along sections affected by tramway construction.
Boost in Funding for Green Initiatives Enhances Poznań's Sustainability Efforts
Poznań has been granted a substantial allocation of nearly PLN 14 million from the EU to bolster its green infrastructure. This funding injection will predominantly target the enhancement of green spaces across the city, with specific focus on the revitalization of areas surrounding the Szyca stadium and benefiting students and residents in Rataje.
The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has allocated Poznań the significant sum of PLN 14 million, sourced from an EU program dedicated to supporting infrastructure development, climate action, and environmental initiatives. Following a competitive selection process, Poznań emerged victorious with its proposal centered on the restoration of green spaces.
This funding infusion paves the way for Poznań to realize various projects aimed at enriching the city's environmental landscape. Notably, plans include the transformation of areas surrounding the Szyca stadium into vibrant community spaces, fostering leisure and recreational activities for residents. Additionally, the redevelopment of the school courtyard in Łazarz will see the conversion of asphalt into a sensory garden, blending climate action with educational opportunities.
Moreover, the initiative extends its reach to Rataje, where a new, inviting park space is set to be established, further contributing to the city's green footprint. These endeavors prioritize the conversion of concrete and asphalt surfaces into biologically active areas, crucial for mitigating the adverse effects of climate change, such as urban heat islands.
By introducing more greenery, including green squares, pocket forests, and parks, Poznań aims to cultivate a more welcoming and environmentally sustainable urban environment, enhancing the overall quality of public spaces throughout the city.
