Cadets from the Department of Law’s Sanremo Team competed in the 22nd Annual International Humanitarian Law, also known as Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC), competition for military academies. This prestigious weeklong event brings together 100 cadets from 24 academies across 14 countries.

The U.S. Military Academy cadets joined forces with peers from around the globe, serving as legal advisors and tackling challenging LOAC scenarios in a fast-paced environment.

Class of 2024 Cadet Jackson Filipowicz earned the Gold Medal for top individual performance and Class of 2024 Cadet Anusha Pakkam was a part of the mixed team that won the Gold Medal for top mixed team performance.

“The department is truly excited about the performance of the Sanremo team. They were committed to gaining a deeper understanding of the Law of Armed Conflict and demonstrating excellence throughout the competition. We couldn't be prouder of their achievements,” said Col. Winston Williams, Department of Law head.
