PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. - Maj. Jonathan R. Pfromm and his family were the first of five winners randomly selected to receive a $50 Visa gift card for their response to the 2024 Department of Defense (DoD) Tenant Satisfaction Survey.

“I believe it is vitally important to fill out the survey to vocalize the pros and cons with living under Balfour Beatty Communities management in order to be heard…and I believe we are,” Pfromm said.

Balfour Beatty Communities manages the “Picatinny Homes” residential community which offers a variety of rental homes to active-duty Army families assigned to the northern New Jersey military installation. Balfour Beatty is one of the largest providers of privatized military housing to all U.S. Armed Forces.

Pfromm who currently serves as the Assistant Product Manager, Project Manager Close Combat Systems, part of the Joint Program Executive Office Armaments and Ammunition at Picatinny Arsenal, has been living in the home on post for the past few years and will transition to a new duty station in the coming weeks.

The U.S. Army launched its annual Tenant Satisfaction Survey on March 4, to collect feedback about the housing experiences of Soldiers and their families.

“The tenant satisfaction survey is a great tool our community has at their disposal now to provide feedback to improve and address deficiencies the residents feel need to be prioritize,” said Lt. Col. Alexander D. Burgos, Picatinny Arsenal Garrison Commander.

This year’s survey was sent to more than 110,000 tenants in Army privatized, government-owned, and government-leased housing by a neutral third-party firm, and aims to inform future improvements in housing quality, resident services, and community amenities.

The Army has been conducting this survey for several years as part of its efforts to improve housing conditions by enhancing resident communication, addressing deficiencies, and prioritizing items important to residents.

“Our Soldiers and their families deserve the best possible living conditions,” said Lt. Gen. Kevin Vereen, Deputy Chief of Staff of G-9. “This survey is a vital tool for understanding their needs and experiences. We are investing significantly in housing improvements, and the feedback from this survey will guide our efforts to provide high-quality, safe and secure housing."

The survey is confidential and voluntary. It will be available online for 45 days, giving tenants ample time to participate and express their views by April 18.

"Taking care of our people is our number-one priority,” Vereen said. “The health and welfare of our Soldiers are foundational to Army readiness, and this survey is part of our ongoing efforts to uphold our unwavering commitment to our Soldiers and their families.”

The survey can be completed entirely online in just about 10 minutes or less and is administered by a neutral third party. Only one survey can be completed by each household, and survey participation is voluntary and confidential. No personally identifiable information collected as part of this survey will be provided or shared with DoD as part of the survey process.

Tenants who do not receive the survey email from ArmyHousingSurvey@celassociates.com should contact their local garrison housing offices for assistance.

Four additional residents will be randomly selected to receive a gift card until the close of this year’s tenant satisfaction survey.

Picatinny Homes is a residential community offering a variety of rental homes to active-duty military families assigned to the installation and surrounding areas. There are also select homes available to rent to military retirees, DoD civilian employees, and the general public.
