And the survey says … Leadership wants your feedback

These days it seems like there is a survey for everything. Businesses ask you to fill out a survey on your dining experience at your favorite restaurant. Car dealers want to know about your experience after you purchase a car, and sometimes there is even a survey after the doctor’s visit.

But do any of those surveys make a difference?

When it comes to the Army, the answer is yes.

One survey that recently went live is the Army Housing Survey.

Brittany Morrison, community director of Redstone family housing for Hunt Military Communities, said the survey is important because it helps them know where they are doing well and where they need to work to understand customers’ concerns with the 353 homes on Redstone Arsenal.

“It shows where we are exceeding and where we need to work harder. So, a big change for this year is that we got a lot of feedback on our landscaping last year on the survey,” she said. “We ended up changing contractors and got a new contractor out here this year that we are really excited about.”

For the past two years, Redstone’s Hunt Military Communities has ranked number one across the entire Army.

“We’re hoping to get number one again. That would be the biggest reason we really need all the participation and any positive feedback that anybody can give,” Morrison said. “We need all the praises we can get because it helps us earn money for the property.”

Residents can find the housing survey at dodsurveys.mil/.

The OMB Control Number needed to access the survey is 0704-0553.

But the housing survey isn’t the only survey the Redstone Arsenal community can use to be heard. Here are a few other surveys you should look at to give leadership darts and laurels and help them understand the concerns of the Redstone community.

 Command Climate Survey

Is your organization conducting a command climate survey?

Active-duty Army company commanders are required to conduct an initial command climate assessment within 30 days of assuming command, with assessments following six months and 12 months later. Then annually.

The survey collects information on unit climate, harassment and discrimination, diversity and inclusion, and other aspects of the command. You can find it at surveysdrc.com/deocs_portal/.

Use your DOD ID number, found on the back of your common access card, a .mil email address or phone number to be associated with your organization.

 OPM Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey

According to the Office of Personnel Management, the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey “is an organizational climate survey and assesses how employees jointly experience the policies, practices, and procedures characteristic of their agency and its leadership.”

You can find more information about it at opm.gov/fevs/.

Active-Duty Spouses Survey

The 2024 Active-Duty Spouses Survey seeks feedback from military spouses. Authorized by the Department of Defense, this is their opportunity to share what is working and what is not working regarding their military lifestyle.

Some 74,000 military spouses received an invitation with a QR code to take the survey. Otherwise, all spouses can visit dodsurveys.mil, click the “don’t have a ticket” button and then enter their DOD identification number.

The survey takes from 10-20 minutes.
