TOBYHANNA ARMY DEPOT, Pa. - U.S. Army CECOM Life Cycle Management Command interns visited Tobyhanna Sept. 9 as part of the Greening Experience Program for Interns. Thirty interns toured depot facilities, including the Depot Maintenance of the Future, and the Defense Distribution Depot-Tobyhanna\'s light receiving area, located in Warehouse 2, Bay 1.
Interns participating in the one-day event represented the following CECOM agencies: Communications Electronics Research Development Engineering, Contracting, Logistics and Readiness, and Software Engineering centers, Human Resources, and Resource Management. The program gives recently hired interns a better understanding of the Army and Army Team Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) through training classes and trips to local installations.
"This tour was an excellent opportunity for CECOM interns to see examples of the equipment and systems that they, as part of Team C4ISR, will continue to help develop and sustain for the warfighter," said Bryant Anderson, CECOM field office at Tobyhanna.
Tobyhanna Army Depot is the Defense Department's largest center for the repair, overhaul and fabrication of a wide variety of electronics systems and components, from tactical field radios to the ground terminals for the defense satellite communications network. Tobyhanna's missions support all branches of the Armed Forces.
About 5,600 personnel are employed at Tobyhanna, which is located in the Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania.
Tobyhanna Army Depot is part of the U.S. Army CECOM Life Cycle Management Command. Headquartered at Fort Monmouth, N.J., the command's mission is to research, develop, acquire, field and sustain communications, command, control computer, intelligence, electronic warfare and sensors capabilities for the Armed Forces.
