On January 18, 2024, Major Kristin “Beo” Wolfe and Capt. Melanie “Mach” Kluesner of the F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team, 388th Fighter Wing, Hill Air Force Base, Utah, made their way to Dugway Proving Ground Michael Army Airfield to execute a demonstration practice in preparation for their 2024 season.

During this demonstration, the expertise of these two pilots was evident as they showcased the unique aerial capabilities of the Air Force’s most advanced 5th generation multi-role stealth fighter, the F-35A Lightning II. Designed for stealth and with a host of next generation technologies, advanced integrated avionics, and superior aerodynamic performance, the F-35 enables direct attacks against the most heavily defended ground targets.

Dugway's remote and isolated location and large restricted air space have led to a partnership between Dugway Proving Ground and Hill Air Force Base that make it an ideal location for demonstration practices. Dugway's team has been fortunate to have the opportunity to see multiple demonstration by Unit Commander, Major Kristin Wolfe throughout her time at Hill Air Force Base. She is a legend among flight demonstration teams, has been recognized and honored by many organizations worldwide, and is a role model for many women in the service. As command of the F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team transitions to Capt. Kluesner, we look forward to continuing to be being a small part of the U.S. Air Force’s journey.
