FORT GREGG-ADAMS, Va. — Stay alert and say something when you see signs of suspicious activity.

Ongoing hostilities in the Middle East and elsewhere in the world may influence transnational and domestic malign actors to identify and target gaps or perceived gaps in security postures.

To help counter this threat, Fort Gregg-Adams Force Protection Office asks everyone to increase their situational awareness and report suspicious activity. Fort Gregg-Adams Soldiers, Civilians and Families should be aware of their surroundings and avoid large crowds.

The Fort Gregg-Adams community should trust their instincts when looking for suspicious activity such as potential signs of surveillance, the antiterrorism experts advised.

Immediately report suspicious behavior like a stranger loitering too long in one spot, asking excessive questions, or showing too much interest in an individual’s job or a facility’s security procedures, covertly following someone, or overtly photographing a particular building or venue. Someone loitering outside a family residence is another red flag that should be reported to law enforcement immediately.

“Most of us know what right looks like in familiar community settings and our own neighborhoods,” said Patrick Winters, Fort Gregg-Adams antiterrorism officer. “If an individual or object (i.e. a suspicious package) looks out of place, report it. Those of us in the antiterrorism awareness business can’t emphasize that enough. We all need to say something if we see something that just doesn’t look right – whether on Fort Gregg-Adams or at home.”

To report suspicious or illegal activities on post, call the military police desk at (804) 734-7400. Off-post, contact the local law enforcement agency or dial 9-1-1 for emergencies. You can also use the new See Something Send Something app.
