FORT GREGG-ADAMS, Va. — As part of ongoing discussions on improving the Installation Energy Resiliency with Dominion Energy, Fort Gregg-Adams leaders toured Dominion's Central Regional Operational Center.

Visitors included: the Fort Gregg-Adams Garrison Commander, Col. James Hoyman; the Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, Mike Flanagan; the Directorate of Public Works Director, Quay Jones; and DPW Utilities Branch staff visited the site for an orientation and overview.

This included the site capabilities in responding to planned or unplanned emergencies and outages, how Dominion works to reroute power around obstructions while crews effect repairs. Dominion officials also discussed how they pre-stage repair assets before known events.

"It was a good opportunity for us at Gregg-Adams to understand their capabilities as well as what capital improvement projects we should look at to enable them to work around areas of historical concern," Jones said. "We also laid the groundwork for working with DE in our upcoming installation exercises to incorporate black start elements (recovering from a blackout) in advance of an installation-wide power outage exercise."
