ARLINGTON, Va. — In November 2023, the Global Force Information Management Objective Environment (GFIM OE) program completed its latest round of Agile capability development and maintained its momentum toward Army-wide release of new capabilities by the end of calendar year 2024.
The GFIM OE team successfully completed User Acceptance Testing on November 22, validating new capabilities in Army force design, force accounting, and force registration. According to Ms. Lori Mongold, U.S. Army Strategic Operations Enterprise Division Chief and G-3 Capability Management Officer (CMO), this latest effort reflects an important milestone for the transformational program.
“We were excited to further develop Global Force Management capabilities while simultaneously re-architecting in the Army cloud,” said Ms. Mongold.
The effort involved nearly 100 subject matter experts from across the Global Force Management community to ensure these latest GFIM OE capabilities will fully meet the Army's needs upon release. Specific UAT scenarios included deployment of a Multi-Domain Task Force, use of Extended Long Range Cannon Artillery, and development of a Change Management Plan. According to Mr. Andy St. Laurent, Deputy CMO, “We had great stakeholder participation from the field, including stakeholders from the Regular Army, Army Reserve and up to nine states from the Army National Guard. We could not build GFIM without their support!”
GFIM OE will begin incremental release of new capabilities by the end of calendar year 2024 and will include implementation of the DoD-mandated data standard for force structure and readiness data to achieve Global Force Management Data Initiative (GFM DI) compliance for the Army. The GFM DI common data standard enables an enterprise approach across Army and DoD, and it provides a means to exchange data among mission command, Warfighting Mission Area (WMA), Army enterprise resource planning, and Business Mission Area systems (BMA). As the Army’s lead for GFM DI implementation, the G-3 CMO will provide subject matter expertise to guide the development of GFIM OE and ensure the Enterprise Business System-Convergence as well as other WMA and BMA systems and data initiatives are compliant in accordance with DoD mandates.
