FRANKLINVILLE, N.J. - Delsea Regional High School welcomed back alumni, Brig. Gen. John T. Reim, for a Veterans Day Ceremony on November 7. Reim, a native of Franklinville, New Jersey, and a graduate of Delsea Regional High School's class of 1986, returned to his alma mater to deliver a heartfelt Veterans Day speech.

Reim recounted his own journey, from growing up in Franklinville, New Jersey, much like the students in the audience, to achieving the rank of Brigadier General in the U.S. Army. He now commands Picatinny Arsenal, the Department of Defense’s Joint Center of Excellence for Guns and Ammunition, and also serves as the Joint Program Executive Officer Armaments and Ammunition.

"My story is a testament to the limitless opportunities that this great country offers," he shared, stressing the values of hard work, dedication, and belief in the American dream. Reim also expressed gratitude for the support and guidance as well as the occasional tough love he received from his Delsea teachers and coaches crediting their personal investment in him as the foundation of his leadership ethos.

However, Reim emphasized that Veterans Day was not about him; it was about the countless men and women who have served and continue to serve the nation. He highlighted the tremendous efforts and sacrifices made by those who protect and defend the country.

"Our veterans, who we are honoring today, have sworn an oath to defend and support the constitution," General Reim said. "They have shown us the true meaning of sacrifice and dedication, reminding us that the American experiment is worth preserving, even in the face of adversity."

He encouraged the students to honor veterans not only with applause and words but with meaningful actions that uphold the ideals they have fought to protect.

As the event finished Reim presented veterans in attendance challenge coins, met with school administrators, and interacted with the JROTC cadets of the Crusader Battalion.

Dr. Piera Gravenor, the Delsea Regional School District superintendent thanked Reim for his visit and support to his alma mater. “General Reim's story is a testament to the fact that with hard work and dedication, one can achieve great heights,” she said. “His visit back to Delsea Regional High School has had a profound impact on our students, and we are incredibly proud of his achievements and his service to our country."
