FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — Maneuver Support Center of Excellence senior leaders hosted an awards ceremony Wednesday in Lincoln Hall Auditorium, where some of Fort Leonard Wood’s exceptional service members were recognized.

Speaking at the ceremony was MSCoE and Fort Leonard Wood Command Sgt. Maj. Jorge Arzabala, who said the service members being recognized are “committed, not only to themselves, but to their nation to become better.”

“This is an opportunity to recognize excellence among our ranks, and this is truly what it’s all about,” Arzabala said. “But more importantly, it gets after the (Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. Randy George)’s No. 1 priority — of the priorities — warfighting is why we exist. And in order to be a good warfighter, we must all have continuous transformation, and that’s what each of you have done. You have improved your ability to become a better noncommissioned officer, better officer, better service member for our military. At the end of the day, that’s the most lethal weapons system that we have, the service member.”

Following Arzabala’s remarks, four service members were awarded the Army Commendation Medal by Maj. Gen. Christopher Beck, MSCoE and Fort Leonard Wood commanding general, for their performances at the MSCoE Fourth Quarter Best Warrior and Joint Service Board:

  • The junior commissioned officer of the quarter is 2nd Lt. Lauren Stovar, with Company B, 31st Engineer Battalion.
  • The drill sergeant of the quarter is Staff Sgt. Andres Rodriguez, with Company A, 554th Engineer Battalion.
  • The NCO of the quarter is Staff Sgt. Princess Ogarro, with Company D, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment.
  • The joint NCO of the quarter is Air Force Tech. Sgt. Quinton Franklin, with the 368th Training Squadron.

Beck then awarded the Army Commendation Medal to two service members for their performances at the MSCoE Best Warrior and Joint Service of the Year Board:

  • The officer of the year is 1st Lt. Maangelita Alexander, with Company E, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment.
  • The joint NCO of the year is Air Force Tech. Sgt. Quinton Franklin, with the 368th Training Squadron.
