Fall Festival Provides Entertainment and Cultural Experience
The United States Army Garrison Yongsan-Casey, Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR) hosted the K-16 Fall Festival at the Army Community Service Parking Lot, K-16 Air Base, South Korea, Oct 20. USAG Yongsan-Casey Commander Col. Loyd Brown and Seongnam City Mayor Shin Sang Jin were in attendance for the event. A special plaque was presented to Mayor Shin Sang Jin by Col. Brown and the Soldier and Family Readiness Group leader Ms. Gale Teressa as thanks to his contribution to the annual Easter Egg hunt that occurred earlier this year signed by the children and parents of K-16 Airbase. The event included, Arts and craft booths, a line dance along, a bouncy house, and a K-pop music and dance group performance occurred during the festival along with food vendors. SEOUL, South Korea - Soldiers and their families as well as civilians in the community surrounding K-16 Air Base, were invited out to the K-16 Fall Festival on Friday, Oct. 20 for an evening of special entertainment.

Hosted by the United States Army Garrison (USAG) Yongsan-Casey Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR), the event offered many activities including an arts and craft booth, a potluck, bouncy house, live dance performances, and a line dance along.

The Festival is a chance for people to come out and have some fun as well as get to know each other, which strengthens the relationship between the K-16 Air Base and its surrounding public. Also in attendance was Seongnam City Mayor Shin Sang Jin.

“The U.S. forces in [South] Korea made our safe prosperity possible, this marks the meaningful 70th year of the U.S. and [South] Korea Alliance,” said Jin to the attendants during the festival’s opening. “I hope that you enjoy today’s performance and make good memories together this evening.”

During the event, servicemembers and their families as well as members of the Korean community were invited to do many entertaining activities like learn line dancing and judge a chili cookoff.

Jin was presented with a plaque by the USAG Yongsan-Casey Commander Col. Loyd Brown, as a sign of appreciation for his support of the festival and the military community.

“Your entertainment and cultural support have really improved the event,” said Brown as he read off the plaque. “You have provided tons of fun creating lifelong memorable and magical moments for our Soldiers and their family members.”

Attendants were also able to experience food from different cultures because of the variety of food vendors. Beyond the entertainment, there was also a live K-pop dance performance as well as a Hanbok fashion show which gave attendants the opportunity to experience Korean culture.
