The Command Sgt. Maj. Troy Welch ACTION Award recognizes dining facilities, now known as Warrior Restaurants, that best promote the values in the Army Commitment to Improving Overall Nutrition program. Also referred to as ACTION, the program was launched in 2019 by Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael Grinston.

Welch, who retired from the Army in July 2007, served as AUSA’s director for NCO and Soldier Programs since January 2017. “Having an award … named after me is not only humbling, it’s one of the greatest honors of my life,” Welch said.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael R. Weimer presents this year's retired Command Sgt. Major Troy Welch Army Commitment to Improving Overall Nutrition (ACTION) Award to second place recipients Spc. Pickett, a Chicago-native and culinary specialist with 564th Quartermaster Company, 13th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, provided "leadership and hard work that instrumental in Courage Inn Warrior Restaurant placing first place among FORSCOM warrior restaurants, and enabled Courage Inn Warrior Restaurant in placing second" in the Army-wide competition, according to his senior leaders.
