KONOTOP, Poland - At approximately 1600 on 13 September 2023, the screech of tires and the smashing of metal could be heard just outside the city of Konotop, Poland. Two vehicles hit head on, causing a major car accident involving 16 Polish civilians. American soldiers took immediate action to treat the injured.

U.S. Army soldiers with the 222nd Military Police Company (New York, Army National Guard), Polish Land Forces and Czech soldiers were among the first to arrive on scene and treat injuries. Soldiers in U.S. Army Garrison Poland train for any situation including rendering lifesaving medical care. The quick actions by these soldiers enabled all the civilians to get treatment for their injuries and helped them to be prepared for emergency responders when they arrived on scene.

The Army values inspire our soldiers to always be ready and to answer the call to serve wherever they are needed.
