
FORT KNOX, Ky. — Dig out the lederhosen and polish up your mugs, Fort Knox — Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation is putting the finishing touches on this year’s Oktoberfest, set to kick off on Brooks Parade Field Sept. 22 at 5 p.m.
Officials say the outdoor German-styled celebration is designed to highlight the rich German heritage and history of Fort Knox and its surrounding communities. Included in the festivities are selections of Oktoberfest and domestic beers, live music from the Schnickelfritz Band back by popular demand, and the Kid Zone, which will feature inflatables, games and activities.
Entrance to the annual event is free and open to the public and will conclude by 10 p.m. Visitors will be required to have a valid gate pass to participate in the event and are urged to obtain a five-day pass, which can be received in person at the Visitors’ Center or online at the Fort Knox website HERE. A valid picture ID will also be required.
