ROCKAWAY, N.J. - Picatinny Arsenal Fire and Emergency Services positioned Fire Truck (Ladder 17) over the Mount Hope overpass in Rockaway, New Jersey on August 30 to display the U.S. flag as the Warriors’ Watch Riders in conjunction with the New Jersey State Police and Bergenfield Police Department transported the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall down Interstate 80.

Command Sgt. Maj. David Franks joined four of Picatinny’s firefighters in posturing the American Flag prior to the memorial's approach.

The traveling exhibit honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces in the Vietnam War and pays tribute to the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.

In 2012, President Obama signed a presidential proclamation, designating March 29 as the annual observance of Vietnam War Veterans Day. Earlier this year, on March 29, 2023, the 50th anniversary of the last American combat soldier leaving Vietnam, was celebrated.
