MAINZ-KASTEL, Germany – Soldiers of the 2nd Multi-Domain Task Force to lead its first multinational exercise, Arcane Thunder 23 (AT23), from August 28 - September 8, 2023, in Poland, Romania, and Germany. Contingents from Italy and Czechia will observe the training exercise.

AT23 is the first time the 2nd MDTF—the Army's second multi-domain task force—has led a training event, and is part of the U.S. Army's Project Convergence campaign designed to test and experiment elements of multi-domain operations.

The Project Convergence campaign evaluates the progress of the Army's modernization efforts. As part of the Joint and Combined fight, the campaign ensures that the U.S. Army can rapidly and continuously converge effects across all domains – air, land, sea, space, and cyberspace – to overmatch our adversaries in competition and conflict.

"Arcane Thunder 23 employs the multi-domain concept to ensure Allied and partner nations have an increased advantage against potential adversaries across all domains. Military personnel from multiple countries are actively participating in the exercise to learn more about the convergence of multi-domain effects," said 2d Multi-Domain Task Force, Commander, COL Patrick Moffett.

As a result of the close partnership between the U.S. Army Futures Command and the U.S. Army Europe and Africa, AT23 combines new experimental technologies and formations while informing further capability requirements that will help deliver the Army of 2030 and beyond.

"I couldn't be more proud of the Soldiers in the 2nd Multi-domain Task Force who are truly at the forefront of Army transformation," said Brig. Gen. Andrew C. Gainey, 56th Artillery Command commanding general.

U.S. participating units include the 2nd MDTF, 10th Mountain Division Artillery, 56th Artillery Command, 41st Field Artillery Brigade, 3-27th Field Artillery Regiment, and 21st Theater Sustainment Command.
