VICENZA, Italy (July 26, 2023) – Contracting professionals of the 414th Contracting Support Brigade provided acquisition support for Exercise African Lion 2023 in Tunisia, Morocco and Ghana recently.

The 414th CSB members provided critical operational contracting support to enhance the interoperability and capabilities of participating African, U.S., and European partner nations in order to promote regional security and stability in Africa.

African Lion 2023 is the largest multinational military exercise in Africa conducted by the U.S. Africa Command bringing together 19 allies and partner nations involved in various training scenarios, peacekeeping operations, counterterrorism operations, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts. The exercise focused on major combat operations and trained participants on combat readiness and partnership involving 3,900 foreign troops and 4,100 American forces.

Soldiers and Army civilians of the 414th CSB provided contracted requirements delivering commercial hotel lodging, a base life support package to support the U.S. participating in academics to partner nations, pharmaceuticals and medicines in support of the humanitarian civil assistance package, and dining facility operations for the U.S. training audience and stakeholders partaking in the joint exercise.

The men and women of the 414th CSB sustain the aligned support relationship with Southern European Task Force-Africa, U.S. Africa Command, the 173rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Special Operations Command Africa, 405th Army Field Support Brigade, and the U.S. Army Garrison-Italy. Brigade members, along with its three regional contracting offices, stand ready to deploy globally with the joint force in order to provide premier operational contracting support to the warfighter.
