The application period is open for Army Civilians to apply for Cohort 2025 of the Defense Comptrollership Program.
The Defense Comptrollership Program, DCP, is a resident graduate program at Syracuse University, combining business and public administration theories during a rigorous 14-month schedule.
DCP graduates will be awarded a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in business analytics, an Executive Master of Public Administration and one industry-recognized professional credential.
“Program participants will gain practical and analytical competencies, increased conceptual perspectives and the management skills necessary to excel at all levels within the defense comptrollership and financial management career field,” said Mr. Michael Mehrman, Deputy Director and Senior Advisor for Army Budget and Comptroller Functional Advisor, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Financial Management and Comptroller).
DCP’s cohort 2025 begins in May 2024 and culminates in July 2025. The program is fully paid for by the Army as a long-term training assignment, with temporary duty at the 100% per diem rate. The deadline for candidate applications is October 27.
Candidates must meet the following criteria by the application deadline:
1) Be an Army civilian in pay grade GS-11 through GS-14.
2) Possess a minimum of five years government service, of which three years must be financial management experience, [Graduate Fellows (interns) that meet the two-year fellowship requirement and have three years journeyman-level experience are also eligible to apply].
3) Have a Graduate Management Admission Test, GMAT, score of 500 or higher (or a Graduate Record Exam, GRE, composite equivalent of 304 or higher) dated no later than the application deadline.
Applicants without a master’s degree will be prioritized for selection; those who already have a master’s degree in another discipline are also encouraged to apply and will receive consideration on a case-by-case basis.
Personnel interested in applying should begin gathering required documents now, including GMAT or GRE test scores and college transcripts, to avoid delays.
“As the workforce modernizes through up-skilling and reskilling, professional education such as that provided by the DCP will be key to career success,” said Mehrman.
