Library receives first of two buddy benches made from recycled plastics
FORT KNOX, Ky. — Barr Memorial patron experience librarian Liz El-Akkad tries out a new addition for library patrons July 13, 2023. Delivered by Tim Pohlman, chief of the Fort Knox Environmental Management Division’s Plans & Ops Branch, the bench is made from recycled plastic lids that were collected earlier this year. A second bench is expected to be delivered to the library sometime later.
The intent of the benches, according to EMD officials, is for people who may need some emotional support to be able to find it sitting on one of the benches, which will be strategically located around the installation.
