Army Field Band NCO breaks brass ceiling

Sgt. Maj. Virginia "Ginger" Turner, a trumpet player with The United States Army Field Band, was recently appointed to noncommissioned officer in charge of the Concert Band. She is the first ever female to hold this title in the Field Band's 63-year history. Turner, who hails from Las Cruces, N.M., beams with pride as she will perform in her hometown Oct. 15 with the Field Band as they head southwest for the 2009 Fall Tour.
