MHS GENESIS is coming to Ireland Army Health Clinic June 3
MHS GENESIS is coming to Ireland Army Health Clinic and associated medical facilities on June 3, 2023. MHS GENESIS is the Military Health System's new electronic health record. When fully deployed, MHS GENESIS will provide a single health record for service members, veterans, and their families.

To prepare you must ensure that your DEERS is up to date. If this information is not correct you or your dependents can populate into the wrong military treatment facility. Also, all non-CAC holders should have a DS Logon. If you already have a DS Logon you will use that to access your patient portal. If you do not have a DS Logon you can follow the link at the bottom of this article to request one, or you can go to the ID Card center, and they can assist you in creating one. What does it mean for your care? Right now, it means less appointments as our providers and staff go through mandatory training covering how to use the new system. During this time of reduced appointments there are a few ways you can access care.

For emergency services:

Please go to the nearest hospital emergency room or dial 911. Closest ERs to Fort Knox are Baptist Health in Elizabethtown and University of Louisville or Norton in Louisville.

Call the Nurse Advice Line: 800-874-2273, Option1

The Nurse Advice Line can triage and assist with getting appropriate care, schedule appointments, and submit referrals for urgent care needs. This service is available to both service member and dependent.

Visit a TRICARE network urgent care center

TRICARE-eligible dependents can use a network urgent care center without referral. Please note that active-duty service members will require a referral for both virtual and network urgent care and mental health visits.

Access virtual urgent care with Doctor on Demand or Telemynd

TRICARE beneficiaries can use Doctor on Demand or Telemynd. Doctor on Demand is a 24-hour virtual urgent care with access to doctors and mental health specialists. Please note that active-duty service members will require a referral.

Utilize Clinical Preventive Services covered by TRICARE without a referral from your PCM.

TRICARE covers clinical preventives services that don’t require a referral from your PCM. These services can be used by finding an IN NETWORK provider that can perform the following:

• Breast Exams/Mammograms

• Immunizations

• Infectious Disease Screenings

• Physicals

• Well-Child Exams (under 6)

• Overseas Family Member Physicals

• School Physicals (TRICARE doesn’t cover annual sports physicals)

• Well Woman Exams

What can you expect post Go-Live? Sick call will not be available from June 1-16, 2023, as providers go through the transition and become comfortable with the system. Immunizations will have limited walk-in capacity. Secure Messaging and self-appointing on the TRICARE online patient portal will stop May 27, 2023. Once MHS GENESIS goes live Secure Messaging reply times will be slower.

There will be limited appointment availability (4-6 weeks), a slow increase in available appointments, longer check-in process, longer wait times to pick up medication at the Pharmacy, and slower response times to Secure Messaging. As the last CONUS military treatment facility to go through the transition we also know that system issues will occur throughout the Go-Live process.
