No Saturday Evening Catholic Mass
There will be no Saturday evening Catholic Mass May 13. Daily Mass—normally held Tuesday through Friday—will also be unavailable through May 19.
Volunteers Sought for Cleanup Event at Sagami River
U.S. Army Garrison Japan, Zama City, Sagamihara City and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Camp Zama will co-host a joint cleanup event at the Sagamihara riverbank, Friday, May 19, from 1:45 to 3:15 p.m. Volunteers are currently being sought to participate.
Zama City will provide gloves and garbage bags.
Photos will be taken during the event, and they will be posted on USAG Japan, JGSDF, the cities' social media afterward.
Please bring your own water.
Weather call will be made before 9 a.m. on the day of the event.

Passport Outreach Program
U.S. Embassy officials will conduct an outreach program May 11 at Yokota Air Base. Members of the Camp Zama community are welcome to participate.
Embassy officials will assist with passports, I-130 petitions and Social Security Number applications at the Taiyo Recreation Center (Bldg. 3260) from 8:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Appointments are required. Please use the information on the attached slide to find required forms and to make appointments.

‘Sensing Session’ With Army Inspector General, IG Sergeant Major
Lt. Gen. Donna Martin, the U.S. Army inspector general, and Command Sgt. Maj. Larry Orvis, the IG sergeant major, will host a family quality-of-life “sensing session” May 12 from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Bldg. 505 on Camp Zama (across from the Zama Chapel).
This sensing session is not a public event. It is limited to family members to allow for a candid dialogue with the Army IG team to address any concerns affecting quality of life in Japan.
The Army takes issues or concerns that affect Camp Zama families very seriously. Your candid and vital feedback will be taken directly to the secretary of the Army.
It is recommended that you park at the chapel, the Community Recreation Center or the Japan Engineer District parking lot.
Playground Closure on SFHA
Playground #13258 on Sagamihara Family Housing Area will be closed May 16 through 23 for maintenance and repair work on the playground’s rubber mats.
Residents nearby may hear construction noise and detect a slight chemical smell during this time.
Please do not enter the playground during this time.

‘Peter Pan’ Theater Performance
Experience the first live theatrical performance on Camp Zama since 2019 and the first since the renovation of Camp Zama’s Community Recreation Center!
Come support our local military and family members as they perform “Peter Pan” on three performance dates scheduled for May 19, 20 and 21.

Opening Day for SHA Outdoor Pool
Free Rice-Planting Event With Zama International Association
The Zama International Association and Kizuna International are hosting a free rice-planting event May 28 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Iriya Pool, a short drive from Camp Zama.
The capacity for this event is 50 people on a first-come, first-serve basis.
This event is intended for non-Japanese nationals living or working in Zama City.
Recommended attire is shorts and T-shirts, and it is recommended to bring towels, hats, face masks, flip flops, rain coats (for rainy weather), and something to drink.

School Bus Re-Registration
If your children need to ride the bus to school next school year, please make sure to re-register them. Please see the attached flyer.

All U.S. Army in Japan installations are “no-drone zones,” meaning all drone usage is prohibited. That includes the very popular toy drones.
Also be advised that Japan has strict drone usage laws and if you intend to fly one off post, you should ensure you understand those laws.
New Parent Support Program
Time Change for Booking Space-Available Appointments
The BG Sams U.S. Army Health Clinic recently changed the time for space-available patients to call for scheduling a same-day appointment. The time has changed from 11 a.m. to 10 a.m., and calls can be made to DSN 262-4175 or 046-407-4175.

Pfizer Vaccine Available for Children Ages 5 to 11
