Combined Arms Center-Training Deputy Commander Col. Scott Woodward talked to students in the School for Command Preparation’s Battalion Tactical Commanders Development Course April 19, 2023 in DePuy Auditorium at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. The course is taught several times a year and is mandatory for battalion command selectees of tactical units.
Woodward talked about the mission of the Combined Arms Center-Training (CAC-T) which is to “drive change in how the Army trains and prepares to conduct Large Scale Combat Operations to support Army 2030 requirements.” CAC-T serves as the training proponent for the Army, managing the training support system enterprise to “improve Army readiness and develop the professional leaders and Soldiers required to fight and win our nation’s wars.”

During the brief, Woodward also talked about the structure of CAC-T within the Army. CAC-T falls under the Combined Arms Center, which in turn is a part of the Training and Doctrine Command. CAC-T has six subordinate organizations that each have a part in the CAC-T mission. The organizations include: Army Training Support Center, Center for Army Lessons Learned, Combat Training Center Directorate, Mission Command Training Program, National Simulation Center and Training Management Directorate.
