ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND, Md. – APG will observe Pollution Prevention, or P2, week with several virtual presentations Sept. 20-23.
Held during the third week of September, P2 Week highlights pollution prevention and sustainable activities, achievements and commitments. The goal of the observance is to help reduce environmental impact and improve environmental compliance through pollution prevention awareness and education.
P2 Week is held in conjunction with the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s P2 Week, which is celebrating the anniversary of Congress passing the Pollution Prevention Act of 1990.
Frank Baldwin, a pollution prevention specialist with the APG Directorate of Public Works, said this is the second year P2 Week will be celebrated virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year people enjoyed the flexibility of remote presentations, he said.
“Feedback will be encouraged,” he said. “Last year it was pretty interactive.”
Baldwin said he hopes people who attend the presentations will that by making small changes at home and at work they can contribute to the overall Army goal of increasing sustainability.
“A little bit of forethought and planning makes a big difference in the end,” he said.
