FORT LEONARD WOOD, Mo. — Each year on April 5, we recognize the service and sacrifice of a very special group within our community. Gold Star Spouses Day is a time for us to pay tribute to the husbands and wives of our fallen comrades.

Family members share in the accomplishments and the burdens of military service. When a service member loses their life, we honor that sacrifice by standing by their Gold Star family, along with remembering their life and achievements.

Gold Star spouses and their families are the enduring legacy of our fallen service members. They represent their loved ones at community events, care for one another and provide friendship and support to those currently serving.

Fort Leonard Wood’s Survivor Outreach Services supports, informs and provides resources for surviving family members. If you are a Gold Star family member, a representative is available to help you at 833.313.1960. Fort Leonard Wood’s SOS coordinator may be reached at 573.596.0195. Services are available to all survivors from all branches of service for as long as needed.

We are very honored to know our Gold Star spouses and their families. If you know or meet a Gold Star spouse or family member, please recognize their courage, acknowledge their spouse’s life of service and thank them for their continued support to our military.
