FORT MEADE, Md. (March 27, 2023) – U.S. Army Garrison Fort George G. Meade Directorate of Emergency Services Police Department appointed Det. Branimir Safar the additional duty as the Community Police Liaison in late February.

“As the Community Liaison, you want to be that connection between the community and DES, in general law enforcement for any non-emergency related situations,” said Safar. “The whole goal is to connect the community more with DES, give more insight on what happens on our end, and at the same time be a resource for Corvias.”

This additional responsibility is intended to strengthen the department's capabilities and serve as a channel for establishing relationships with the residential community on the installation.

Safar plans to attend all upcoming community events including community socials and town halls. He is looking to the community to provide feedback on how this position may be best utilized to support Fort Meade. Safar also intends to provide training sessions to the community from home protection to suicide prevention in partnership with other garrison directorates. Eventually, two liaisons will be available to Fort Meade residents to help address community-related matters.

“People should not be afraid to dial my number, give me a call, send me an email, whenever that is,” said Safar. “I want to hear from the community.”

Safar’s office can be found in the Potomac Place Community Center at 2nd Corp Blvd, Fort Meade, Md. 20755. He is on duty Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and can be reached at (443) 685-6110.

Fort Meade is grateful to have another resource available to our residents to help keep them safe.

“I am thrilled to have Detective Safar located in Potomac Place,” said Army Housing Office Chief, Amy Stafford. “Having additional police presence in the community is always a benefit and I think he has some great ideas about how to be truly involved.”
